HANOVER AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL Posting # 002-072 Part-Time Ward Clerk The ward clerk coordinates unit activities to promote relationships with patients, visitors and healthcare professionals. In addition, the clerk contributes to the efficient function of the unit primarily through effective clerical and communication activities. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: •Answering, screening and triaging telephone calls •Receiving and assisting visitors coming in to be with family or friends •Following established procedures to ensure the efficient flow of patients •Providing routine clerical support services, organizing specialist referrals for patients, scheduling and notifying patients of special tests •Performing cross-functional duties as assigned and/or required •Performing other duties consistent with the job classification •Works in cooperation with other departments within the hospital QUALIFICATIONS: •Post-secondary certificate/diploma Office Administration for Health Services •Medical terminology certificate •General knowledge of office practices, processes and procedures •Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with medical terminology •Able to work with minimal supervision and adaptable to work in a changing •environment •Ability to process physician’s orders from patient(s) chart(s) •Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills •Ability to handle difficult patients/situations •Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi task •Experience working in a health care environment •Ability to meet the physical demands of the job Interested applicants should apply by July 7, 2017 to: Human Resources Hanover and District Hospital 90-7th Avenue Hanover, ON N4N 1N1 Fax: 519-364-3984 Email: hr@hdhospital.ca Please include the posting number with application.
