Corridor Management Officer Are you customer-service driven with strong analytical and interpretive skills? Are you ready to play an important role in managing Ontario's highway corridor? Then consider this exciting opportunity with the Ministry of Transportation. What can I expect to do in this role? In this role, you will: - Inspect highway corridor and ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and policies - Review and evaluate permit applications and issue permits for corridor activities such as highway access, signing, encroachments and building and land use - Coordinate utility relocations - Work with internal and external stakeholders such as ministry staff, municipalities, consultants, and the public - Identify and resolve problems related to corridor management Note: the successful candidate will be required to travel on a bi-weekly basis, within the region. Location: Owen Sound How do I qualify? Mandatory You have a valid G driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario to travel to meetings, conduct field visits and/or inspect highway corridor where public transit is not available. Engineering and Technical Skills - you have demonstrated knowledge of engineering principals relating to utility relocation for the preparation, administration and acceptance of regional contracts - you can interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures, standards and legislation relating to Corridor Management permits and utility relocation - you can read and interpret highway and construction plans, reports, and site plans - you have an understanding of the land use planning process and highway design, and construction Communication Skills - you have proven interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with other office personal and a wide range of external stakeholders such as, the public, utility companies, developers, municipalities and elected officials - you have written communication skills to prepare documents such as permits, correspondence and briefing notes - you have the ability to provide advice and technical and legal information to clients who are unfamiliar with terminology Analytical, Organizational and Computer Skills - you have proven analytical, evaluation and decision making skills to assess alternatives/permit applications, develop alternate options and recommend solutions - you have demonstrated planning, organizational and prioritization skills - you have computer skills, common software applications and databases, and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and email software Salary Range: $30.96 - $38.92 per hour Additional information: - 1 Permanent, 1450 7th Ave E, Owen Sound, West Region Please apply online, only, at www.ontario.ca/careers, quoting Job ID 95798, by Friday, September 2, 2016.
